Limestone library turns 30: community invited to art exhibit and open house

Limestone Library will celebrate its 30th anniversary with an open house on Saturday, April 18, running from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.. The event spotlights the library’s role as a local gathering place and offers residents a chance to tour the building, view community artwork and mark a milestone in the library’s history.

The celebration is free and open to the public, with refreshments provided and an art show featuring work submitted by area residents. Organizers say the gathering is intended as both a thank-you to long-time supporters and an invitation for new visitors to discover what the library offers.

Why this matters now

Local libraries are more than book lenders; they serve as civic hubs for programming, learning and neighborhood connection. Reaching a 30-year milestone signals sustained community support at a time when many small public institutions face funding and attendance pressures.

For residents, the open house is an opportunity to see recent changes, ask about upcoming programs, and help shape the library’s next chapter. For community leaders and patrons, it’s a moment to recognize volunteer efforts, local artists and the informal networks that keep neighborhood services running.

“This anniversary belongs to everyone who has used, supported or volunteered at the library over the years,” said library representatives. “We hope people will come by, celebrate and learn about new ways to get involved.”
