Kankakee’s downtown will host a family-focused Halloween celebration next Sunday, Oct. 18, when the Rotary Club opens its seasonal event on Schuyler Avenue. The one-day gathering packs rides, vendors and a midday trunk-or-treat that aims to draw children and neighbors to the city center.

The event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 250 S. Schuyler Ave., with activities spread along the street. Organizers say the lineup includes pony rides, a range of food and merchandise booths, craft displays and a selection of free-to-play games for all ages.

Pony rides are presented with support from St. Mary’s Hospital, underscoring local-group involvement in the family programming.
Trunk-or-treat and registration details
The day’s centerpiece for children is a trunk-or-treat session scheduled from noon to 3 p.m., when decorated car trunks hand out candy in a supervised setting. Community members who want to participate by decorating a trunk must sign up ahead of time; on-site registration will not be available.
