This April, UpliftedCare Community Grief Center in Bourbonnais is running two complimentary programs for people managing caregiving responsibilities and the practical fallout after a death. Both sessions focus on concrete steps families can take now — from advocating with medical teams to handling probate and insurance — reducing confusion when time and emotions are tight.
Caregiver support: practical guidance and peer connection
The monthly Caregiver Support Group meets Wednesday, April 8, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at 3115 N. 1000 West Road, Bourbonnais. Darla Savoie, LPN and UpliftedCare’s Clinical Intake Liaison, will lead the discussion drawing on more than 30 years in health care.

Savoie will outline what to ask clinicians about prognosis and treatment options, steps for legal and financial preparedness, and everyday techniques to reduce caregiver stress. Attendees are invited to bring questions and share experiences in a confidential setting.
Light lunch and refreshments will be available. Space is limited; organizers ask that participants RSVP by calling 815-939-4141 so materials and seating can be arranged.
The Business Side of Death: a three-part workshop begins April 18
Part one of UpliftedCare’s three-session series, titled “The Business Side of Death,“ takes place Saturday, April 18, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the same Bourbonnais address.
The series is designed to help grieving families sort the administrative tasks that follow a loss: navigating probate, closing or transferring financial accounts, filing insurance claims and fulfilling other obligations that can quickly become overwhelming.
UpliftedCare emphasizes that grief includes both emotional and logistical work; the workshops break down those tasks into step-by-step actions. Materials and light refreshments will be provided. Registration is required and free of charge.
